Côte d’Ivoire: regional, municipal elections outcome & concerns for 2020

Summary The outcome of Côte d’Ivoire’s regional and municipal council elections favoring the ruling RHDP was unsurprising. A deepening ethnopolitical divide in the country is worrisome, however, but foreign diplomatic and internal political postures can help to mitigate against rising electoral stress as the country next anticipates a presidential election in 2020.
