Democratic Republic of the Congo: building out economic policy

Following his January 24 inauguration as President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Félix Tshisekedi is establishing the functions of his new office. Economic policy direction has not yet been addressed, but continuity is the likely path forward, insofar as regulating the country’s mining sector is concerned. Tshisekedi, who succeeded Joseph Kabila as president following elections held on December 30, has conducted a wide range of consultative meetings since his inauguration.
