Summary: The national political dialogue scheduled for July 16-21 in Equatorial Guinea is a notable opening of democratic space making for an improved political and economic outlook. It is premature, however, to expect the Obiang regime to dramatically amend its predatory behavior. As such, foreign operators in Equatorial Guinea remain vulnerable to the material risk of foreign public shaming and internal national security requirements.
