Mozambique: securing natural gas investments

The Mozambique government is counting on Rosneft and ExxonMobil to make final investment decisions as early as the fourth quarter of 2018 on their offshore natural gas interests in the country’s Rovuma basin. The scale of investment in Mozambique’s LNG sector will likely exceed $30 billion, when factoring in developments by Itaty’s ENI as well. While the foreign energy companies continue to conduct their investment due diligence over the course of 2018, the Mozambique government, led by President Felipe Nyusi, is effecting infrastructure, political, economic and security policies designed to ensure comprehensive supports to the LNG projects.
